At the end of last year, the pneumonia which was infected by a new type of coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), has broken out in Wuhan. Our whole country devoted to treatment and prevention. On February 10th, the World Health Organization (WHO) again warned that the outbreak of new coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) had spread to more than 20 countries overseas. People who have not been to China have also been found to be a source of infection and the spread is likely to accelerate. The destiny of mankind is shared, and no one is immune from the threat of infectious diseases.

Today, compared with the dominant western medicine, overseas TCM is still in a weak position of complementary and alternative medicine, in world medical and health system. However, we can see that the medical colleagues and all walks of life in the world are always concerned about the history and current situation of TCM treatment of infectious diseases. In the fight against the SARS in 2003, the international community paid much attention to the clinical experience of TCM in improving the cure rate and reducing the death rate. In 2020, TCM’s timely intervention in the fight against the COVID-19, provided significant effect in reducing fever, controlling disease progression, reducing the dosage of hormone and reducing complications. TCM is playing a positive role in all aspects, and will make greater contributions in the disease rehabilitation. These will have a great impact on the internationalization of TCM in the future. 

According to the report of China International Migration in 2015, there are more than 60 million overseas Chinese living in 198 countries and regions. At present, the COVID-19 has spread to overseas countries, where there is a relative shortage of TCM. In this time of crisis, we propose that TCM colleagues from all over the world join hands to apply a variety of TCM therapies, to provide anti-epidemic public services. We should give full play to the advantages of Internet technology to help overseas compatriots prevent and overcome the epidemic.
